From Boys to Men: The Road to Healing Closing Reception

All are welcome to celebrate artist Anthony Gebrehiwot and experience 'From Boys To Men: The Road To Healing' before it closes on August 12th. The closing reception will be from 5 – 7 pm in the UTSC Instructional Centre Atrium.

Join us on Friday August 5th for the closing reception of ‘From Boys to Men: The Road to Healing’.

Anthony Gebrehiwot’s 'From Boys To Men: The Road To Healing', is a visceral display of Black masculinity. Featuring portraits of artists from RISE (Reaching Intelligent Souls Elsewhere), a Scarborough-based, youth-led movement, this series of portraits looks at the means by which masculinity can manifest in healthy and inclusive ways. While using the combination of contrasting landscapes, Black bodies, and raw human emotion, Gebrehiwot's work focuses on the release from toxic masculinity by reconsidering the biased ways of thinking and acting towards self-awareness as a strategy of collective recovery as activism.

All are welcome to celebrate Anthony and to experience the exhibition before it closes on August 12th. The closing reception will be from 5 – 7 pm in the UTSC Instructional Centre Atrium. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be offered. There will be opening remarks by artist Anthony Gebrehiwot at 5:30 pm.
