WORK-STUDY

The DMG is committed to providing students with hands-on, professional gallery experience through our participation in U of T’s Work-Study and Experiential Education programs. Work-study students have the opportunity to engage with the public as gallery attendants and assist gallery staff with a wide range of gallery activity, including: research;  installation; finances; and marketing. Students contribute toward and gain valuable insight and hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a public gallery. Work-study positions at the DMG introduce students to the broader arts communities of the University of Toronto, the city, and beyond.

The DMG regularly offers Work-Study positions in the fall, winter, and summer semesters. Positions are open to all registered undergraduate and graduate University of Toronto students. Visit the U of T Career Learning Network for more information about eligibility and available positions.

Work-Study positions at the DMG are listed within the University of Toronto’s Co-Curricular Record (CCR), a university-wide database for students seeking opportunities outside the classroom. This official record will allow students to contextualize their participation at the DMG for potential employers, graduate and/or professional programs, and awards or scholarships. For more information on the Co-Curricular Record at the University of Toronto, please visit their website.

INTERNSHIPS

The DMG offers both short- and long-term placements to U of T and other post-secondary students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Student interns are involved in almost every area of gallery activity, including supporting artists during installation of their work, planning programming, or researching the Permanent Collection. Interns also develop and execute special projects for the gallery according to their specific interests.

For more information on internship opportunities at the DMG, please contact the Operations and Finance Coordinator.
