Claudia Skunk
Indigenous Youth Artist-in-Residence
The Doris McCarthy Gallery is excited to be working with Claudia Skunk as the 2025/2026 Indigenous Youth Artist-in-Residence! Now in its eighth year, the program aims to support and deepen the practice of a young Indigenous artist, help with building relationships within the art community, and open up possibilities around post-secondary education.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Claudia Skunk is Anishinaabe from Mishkeegogamang Ojibway Nation, with Swampy Cree lineage through her maternal kokum, and is currently based in Toronto. With almost four years of experience in production and project management in the film and television industry, and five years previously at imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, Claudia brings dedication to authentic storytelling and narrative sovereignty.
She is currently in development at Tanya Talaga’s production company, Makwa Creative, for Radioactive Road Trip, where she is co-writing and associate producing. Claudia is serving as the Associate Producer for the APTN series Supernaturals, and recently completed her role as Impact Producer for The Knowing, a four-part CBC series by Talaga. She also worked as an Associate Producer on AMPLIFY Season Three and co-directed episode six, titled Cosmic Carousel, which premiered on APTN in 2025. Additionally, she produced Mekwâc, an interactive and immersive project by James Monkman, set to have its world premiere in 2026.
As Claudia continues to grow her skills in the industry, she looks forward to exploring her own voice through personal projects rooted in home, land, and family, and the stories she wants to tell as an Anishinabekwe.
