Water (Deshkan Ziibi)

Water (Deshkan Ziibi) is a hybrid curatorial-artistic 12-hour event that will take place on December 12, 2024. It is the fifth in a series of 12 annual events curated by Christof Migone, in collaboration and partnership with various curators, artists, and institutions. Each year, the event focuses on a word of the 12-word phrase "You And I Are Water Earth Fire Air Of Life And Death," and activates it in myriad ways.

This year's event, curated by Migone, Sheri Osden Nault, and Ruth Skinner, will willingly wade the time away, in eddies, in sinks, in drains, in backwaters, through root systems, capillaries, infiltrating, inundating, as Isabelle Stengers put it, our "humid brains." The event is streamed online in its entirety and some of the hours are presented live.

As one of this year's institutional partners, the Doris McCarthy Gallery is presenting an audio and video programme in Hour 4 (3 - 4 pm EST), featuring works by Farheen Haq, Laura Millard, Jordyn Stewart, Jon Sasaki, and Lou Sheppard. The last twenty minutes of this hour features the contribution of Bagida’waad Alliance to the Place (Dis) series.
