Video Game Demonstration with Theo Jean Cuthand

This program is open to University of Toronto Scarborough students registered in VPSC70H3S - Interdisciplinary Digital Art.

Theo Jean Cuthand will lead an exhibition tour of Love + Numbers, discussing the development of the works and how he chooses to create with different video and moving image media. Cuthand will then lead a demonstration of his video game practice, in which students will be asked to consider decolonization in gaming, exploring how many games encourage colonial strategies and celebrate violence, and looking at those that push back on these approaches and instead imagine alternate futures. Students have the opportunity to consider new approaches to designing and developing their own video game; following the program, they will have access to software to begin to experiment.
