In-Class Video Screenings: Works by Theo Jean Cuthand

Curricular Program

This program is open to University of Toronto Scarborough students registered in ENGC45H3 - Queer Literature and Theory, VPHB59H3 - Current Art Practices, and MDSB16H3 - Indigenous Media Studies.

The DMG presents a series of in-class screenings of selected works by Theo Jean Cuthand featured in the exhibition Love + Numbers

Each screening carefully considers course content, with a selection of videos that speaks to the concepts and conversations within each class. Readings will be assigned in advance, to provide students with context and another access point to the works. Following the screening, the DMG team will lead a guided discussion, using prompts and questions designed to encourage critical thinking and engagement with the videos. Works screened will include Homelands (2010), Boi Oh Boi (2012), Dreams of Sunlight Through Trees (2024), Lessons in Baby Dyke Theory (1995), and 2-Spirit Introductory Special $19.99 (2015).
