Drawing Drop-In: it's because of the shimmer, the verge, and the yet.

Drop in to the DMG for this all-day program activating Erika DeFreitas’ solo exhibition -- enjoy some coffee and tea, experience and learn more about the show, and participate in a drawing response activity!

DeFreitas’ series the responsibility of the response (in conversation with Agnes Martin) features 31 drawings created in response to the work of Canadian-American artist Agnes Martin, who was known for highly emotive, minimalistic grid and line paintings. This ritualistic and repetitive act was a way for DeFreitas to find stability, routine, and connection to the physical. This program gives the opportunity for participants to offer a further response to the work, creating their own line drawings as an exercise in mindfulness. No drawing experience necessary, all materials provided, and you can spend as little or as much time as you like with the activity!

Gallery staff will also be on hand to offer informal tours by request. Engage with the exhibition and spend some time artmaking, as a way of de-stressing and reconnecting as we enter a busy winter and finals season.

This is a drop-in program, no registration necessary.
