DMG @ Cedar Ridge Creative Centre Curatorial Mentorship Program exhibition

Who We’ll Be is a student-curated exhibition that brings together recent works by University of Toronto Scarborough Studio Art Students.

The exhibition explores the experience of young adulthood, a formative period of change and uncertainty, in which there is often a tension between individual desires and outside expectations. Who We’ll Be addresses the emotional state of this time, the overwhelming feeling of attempting to fit in while forging an authentic life path. The artists reflect on the choices they have made in the pursuit of stability, whether it be for their career, self-image, or relationships, considering and critiquing societal pressures they face along the way. Who We’ll Be embodies the realities of being on the precipice of independence, as the artists navigate the unwritten rules of adulthood while staying true to themselves.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Who We’ll Be is the twelfth in a series of annual student exhibitions presented in partnership between Cedar Ridge Creative Centre and the Doris McCarthy Gallery, University of Toronto Scarborough, as part of the DMG @ Cedar Ridge Creative Centre Curatorial Mentorship Program. The exhibition is the culmination of a curatorial internship at the Doris McCarthy Gallery by a student or recent graduate of the University of Toronto, created to allow students to develop and put their skills into professional practice, sharing their resulting work in public spaces.
