The WaveArtFellowship is an artist residency curated by the WaveArtCollective, an interdisciplinary group of artists, educators, academics, and mobilizers whose goal is to create art and educational programming for Scarborough. From January to May 2021, during the unprecedented COVID lockdown, eight fellows created a series of artistic works speaking to the theme of ''the new normal on the margins'', archiving the spirit of the times and an exemplifying the relentless perseverance of emerging artists who are well-versed in working beyond their means. This off-site exhibition at the UTSC Library is a mix of photography and texts that represent the experiences of Scarborough residents during the pandemic, exploring themes such as the unique social interactions between young people living on the margins, migrant-owned restaurants in Scarborough, and apartment evictions in Crescent Town.
